Fear, grief and uncertainty are human. The former image of a manager who stands above all other people and doesn’t display his feelings, is no longer desirable. It is important for all managers and their employees to accept and also show their feelings. We are talking about „second order sovereignty“ – the boss stays confident but also genuine. This attitute helps the environment to develop empathy and to understand the counterpart. To appreciate one another is the key to conflict prevention and conflict resolution. A management culture in which feelings can be shown has a positive effect on collaboration in teams.
