The internet and other modern media increasingly affect our private as well as our professional life. Associated with that is a steadily growing pile of information which is available at all times. This seemingly endless amount of data should, as a matter of fact, produce superior decisions. Paradoxically, the opposite is the case: decisions become more difficult. According to a study from the German Bundesanstalt für Arbeitsschutz und Arbeitsmedizin, 48 percent of managers complain about an increased level of stress for the past two years. While only five percent stated to be overwhelmed qualitatively, 21 percent worried about a quantitative overload. Psychologists label this as the choice overload effect.
